Cambodia Gambling Halls

March 7th, 2026 No comments

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel compound that contains a number of comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
